What we collect

• If you create an account: your email, name, organisation, role, country and the size of system you work on.
• Water balances you choose to save, including the inputs and results.
• Usage events (which steps you completed, whether you exported, whether you used the assistant) tied to an anonymous session or your account, so we can improve the tool.
• Questions you send to the AI assistant and a summary of your current inputs, which are processed by Anthropic to generate a reply. They are not used to train models.

What we do with it

We use your data to run the service, to save your work, to understand how the calculator is used, and — only if you opted in — to send you occasional emails. If you opted in to benchmarking, results may be included in anonymised, aggregated statistics (for example, the distribution of ILI by system size). Individual balances are never published or shared with a name, organisation or utility attached.

Where it lives

Data is stored with Supabase (hosted PostgreSQL) and the site is served by Netlify. Balances you have not saved live only in your browser's local storage.

Your choices

You can delete any saved balance from your dashboard, and you can ask us to delete your account and everything attached to it by emailing hello@waterbalancecalc.com. You can change your marketing preference at any time via the unsubscribe link in any email.

Cookies

We use a session cookie for sign-in and a local-storage key for your unsaved balance. No advertising cookies.
